![]() What is the problem?Under Operation Charm, the Metropolitan Police Wildlife Crime Unit has seized over 30,000 endangered species products that were being kept for sale in London. Most of these have been Traditional Chinese Medicine products made from tigers, rhinos, bears, saiga antelope, musk deer, elephants, leopards, pangolins, tortoises, seahorses and a number of endangered plants. On 29 February police executed a search warrant at a traditional Chinese medicine shop in South London and seized approximately 300 medicinal products which appear to be made from endangered species of animals and plants. These products are on sale here because we buy them. It is our money that is driving this trade and if we continue to buy, the poachers and traffickers will make a killing! Local action can have a global impact. If we stop buying products made from endangered species, we can help stop the illegal trade. Together we can fight wildlife crime in London and what we do here can help to protect endangered species all over the world. The campaign is supported by The Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and The London Chinatown Chinese Association. |
